RG’s patreon experiment didn’t last 2 months, I think it started approx April 5th, and if it ends in 2 weeks, that’s approx 5/24..
This is eerily familiar to RG’s inner circle group which I also think didn’t make it past 2 months?
opps.. that lasted from 5/21/21 to 6/25/21… that’s a little over 1 month… but that did have 5 videos a week and more active kajibi forum (also mess)…
from my original post back then:
Deef Richard’s shutting down the Inner Circle experiment… after a little over a month??
Just checked his newsletter promoting it was sent May 21st and he’s closing up June 25th!

tsk tsk… it will be interesting to see if he offers more details behind the sudden change… On a logistical side, the pace of daily videos 5x a week was overly ambitious…. then doing videos based on most voted questions.. that wasn’t ideal either..
But then, the structure of the forums with people chasing likes or Richard’s attention… maybe that got a bit messy… and a bit too ‘gleeful’ cheerleading-ish?
But I think the original issue with membership site was as an alternative to youtube, because of concerns with de-platforming. Has that risk lowered?? Or has his position changed on that, or focus is on something else?
Though this could be part of his pattern of spontaneous experiments with groups…. in his early days he did a bunch of in person seminars until it messed with his health… he did a 30 day challenge paywall group as an idea, then did it a 2nd or 3rd time… then stopped.. then much later did free youtube 30 day challenge with philosophical tweak…
then summoning the self course came out… big time gap until this inner circle…
what will be the next creative urge? and how long until then?
Here’s some of his reasoning for closing the inner circle in 2021

People just flagrantly ignored the rules because they didn’t feel like sticking to them
and i was like well, i can’t impose sanctions, you’re not four years old, the only thing i can do is close the site down.
It was a very strange experience for me. It was a very upsetting experience for me!
The way people acted on the forum, i was appalled by, absolutely shocked.
It’s too risky, people threatening each other! We caught the posts quickly, screen capped them, deleted them.
But there’s people openly threatening each other within four weeks, on a site that is ostensibly for people recovering from C-PTSD!!
With the kajibi forum, there was more enmeshment and stuff, but I didn’t see much cross talk on patreon…. but there was a plan for a special telegram chat group, if that started, some messy moderation challenges could have come up. Though there was a patreon comment from one person who said they didn’t get any invite to it…
So…. this seems to be an interesting pattern of RG… he will start new groups but they don’t seem to last longer than 2 months…. even his 30 day challenge communities, it seems he himself loses steam sometime around week 4…. tsk tsk…
